Secondary IT Portal Insight

Introducing Kevin Jones

Our Secondary IT portal manager is Kevin Jones. Kevin is also a lecturer at Sussex Downs College in Lewes, East Sussex where he teaches AS/A2 Computing, A2 ICT, BTEC Level 3 Software Development and Level 2 IT.

Additionally, Kevin works as ILT Development Advisor helping staff develop their use of IT to support learning.

The recent report published by the Royal Society stated that the delivery of Computing education in many UK schools is ‘highly unsatisfactory’.  It found that two key reasons for this were due to a lack of teachers able to teach beyond basic digital literacy and the lack of CPD opportunities currently on offer.

Vital’s subject specialist portals aim to address these issues, and will aggregate the very best resources, tools and ideas for delivering education designed to inspire a new generation of computational thinkers.
