Vital for providers

vital for me

Collaborate to reduce development costs, increase quality, generate income and maximise impact on practice

Vital will act as a focus for collaboration amongst ICT CPD providers with the aim of reducing development costs, increasing the quality of CPD available, promoting the best practice nationally and maximising the impact of ICT CPD on the teaching profession across England.

Vital is being delivered in each of the nine English regions by the Open University and has a strong regional identity. The Vital Programme is committed to working with all the ICT CPD practitioners in each region to showcase the good provision that already exists. Vital offers you a chance to extend your reach and to engage directly with fellow practitioners, budget holders and school leaders across the region.

Although Vital will offer a number of courses it doesn’t intend to compete with existing suppliers of high quality ICT CPD. Current providers of ICT CPD will be encouraged to market their own provision through the Vital website. At the same time Vital is collaborating with the TDA on their database of CPD to enable community members to search for relevant courses.

All of the course materials developed by the Open University are available to use for free. There will also be opportunities for current ICT CPD providers to deliver Vital courses under a franchise model. At the same time we are encouraging ICT CPD providers to develop their own spaces on the Vital site to market their own courses and to sign up participants.

Vital regional offices will not be run as training centres, instead Vital aims to make the best use of existing facilitators and training venues throughout each region.
