Introduction

This course introduces the principles of project management, including an explanation of the project lifecycle and the tools and techniques used by IT project managers in business and industry. It is relevant to all IT and ICT courses at Key Stages 4 and 5 that include project management.

Outline

The course begins with a one-day event, hosted and co-delivered by IT sector employers. They will explain projects they have worked on, and reflect on how the tools can be used effectively on both large and small scale projects. Participants will have opportunities to develop ideas for projects to use with learners and will see learning resources that have been developed to support delivery of project management in the classroom.

After the one-day event, participants will have opportunities to try out in the classroom the ideas, projects and resources gained from the day and share their experiences with fellow participants in a facilitated forum in the Vital community.
