Introduction
When used properly, wikis are powerful tools that enable sharing of information and knowledge. This Secondary course explores how they can be used in the Secondary classroom to improve teaching and learning and enable collaboration on group projects.
Outline
The course will cover:
• how wikis are used in educational contexts
• setting up and using wikis with your own learners
• using different media within a wiki
• issues around e-safety when using wikis
• how using wikis can help towards achieving TDA standards.
Outcomes
After completing the course, you’ll know how to:
• set up a wiki and edit pages
• select the most appropriate wiki tool to use
• incorporate text and other media on a wiki page
• identify where wikis can be used in the classroom
• discuss and assess the use of wikis within education.
