IBM: Smarter Planet Teacher Workshop - Technology Today & Tomorrow

The event begins at 9:30 and will finish at 3:30 and is aimed to provide teachers with resources and skills to deliver work targeting at secondary school students.
This workshop is particularly aimed at ICT, Computing and Business Studies teachers who wish to broaden their skills and receive specialist tuition from experienced IBM technology staff. This may fit into many areas of both the KS4 and KS5 curriculum especially for areas regarding emerging technologies. This is aimed to provide professional development, allow networking with other teachers in your area and to allow you to add further context to your lesson using resources provided in this workshop.
Objectives and Benefits
- Provide an insight into the benefits that technology can bring, both today and in the near future.
- Explain how IBM’s Smarter Planet initiative helps save energy and conserve resources and how this can be applied in local schools.
- Explore how a game-playing computer can make a difference in medical diagnosis and other practical applications
- Describe and discuss real life examples of technology bringing community and business benefits
- Provide the opportunity for interaction between teachers and experienced IBM technology staff: your opportunity to question the experts and benefit from their experience.
